Hi! I’m Ave, a journalist and photographer attending Syracuse University.

I study Magazine, News, and Digital Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication. In my classes, I’ve developed my writing and reporting skills while building lasting professional connections within our Orange Network. Outside of class, I contribute to the Newshouse and NCC News, two Newhouse media organizations that help students gain professional experience. I’m also on the Jerk Magazine social media team.

I have developed my photography skills through practice at The Daily Orange. From photographing President Biden to attending a lettuce-eating competition, I have captured a diverse range of events and subjects in the greater Syracuse area. As a sophomore, I served as Photo Editor at The D.O., managing a team of 75 photographers and overseeing daily visuals published to our audience of 24k followers and readers. Last summer, I worked as the team photographer in my creative media and marketing internship with the Glens Falls Dragons, a summer baseball team in the PGCBL.

This year I’m a Development Editor at The D.O.; I work with all new contributors to welcome them into our newsroom. From story pitches to final reads, I guide new students through the writing process. I also tutor at the Stevenson Center and SU Athletics, helping athletes with their studies.

In Spring 2027, I will be attending Syracuse London and am currently looking for internship opportunities in the UK for my semester abroad.
